Katie Barnes - Senior Physiotherapist & Practice Owner
Katie set up Barnes Practice in 2011 and continues to own and manage the practice. Previously, she worked for The Varney Practice for 10 years. Katie qualified from Middlesex University in 2002 and since qualifying, has undertaken a wide variety of post-graduate training, including acupuncture, biomechanical assessment, intramuscular stimulation, ultrasound imaging, taping and spinal manipulation. Katie is a specialist in IMS, joint mobilisation and whiplash injuries.
Being a keen sportswoman, including participating in national league hockey and triathlon, Katie has a strong interest in musculoskeletal and sports injuries, rehabilitation and prevention. She also has an interest in complex spinal pain.
Katie extended her qualifications to pilates teacher matwork in 2010 and reformer pilates in December 2020. She trained with the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute (APPI).
Nicole Spiro - Senior Physiotherapist
Nicole graduated from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in Durban, South Africa in 2011 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Cum Laude). She did her community service year in 2012 where she worked at a government hospital in Hammanskraal in South Africa. Before moving to Hertfordshire she worked in a private practice in La Lucia, Durban. The outpatients practice specialised mainly in treating sports injuries and orthopaedic patients. Nicole is available for bookings on Saturdays at the practice.
Being a keen sports person, Nicole enjoys playing hockey and keeping active and currently plays for Hertford hockey club. She also enjoys playing tennis and golf. She has a strong interest in sports injuries, Temporomandibular dysfunction and rehabilitation. Since qualifying Nicole has undertaken a number of postgraduate CPD Courses, some specific courses she has done have been Dry needling, TMD, Running gait analysis course, Pregnancy and Post Natal courses.
She continues to do continuous professional development in the MSK, sports and orthopaedic fields. She feels that it is important to always look at a patient as a whole and get down to what is causing their pain/ dysfunction. Since having a baby herself Nicole has a keen interest in pregnancy and post natal physiotherapy and we are looking at starting a gait analysis and post-natal assessment days for Mothers wanting to return to running.

Nicola Dillon - Physiotherapist
Nicola graduated from Brunel University, London in 2000. She began her career within the NHS progressing to Band 7 Team leader in outpatients at Hertford County Hospital. After this Nicola has worked at private hospitals and clinics treating sports injuries and other musculoskeletal conditions. Nicola has a hands-on approach using soft tissue massage, joint mobilisations and acupuncture but also incorporates electrotherapy and exercise therapy into her treatments.
Previously, Nicola worked as a Clinical Pilates Instructor rehabilitating clients after back injury or spinal surgery. She now uses this experience to teach core stability exercises as part of a treatment plan. Nicola has a sporting background having trained up to black belt 2nd Dan in Judo and competing in the Great British Junior/Senior Judo teams.
Kate Fry - Physiotherapist
Kate started working in a physiotherapy clinic as a Pilates teacher in 2004, collaborating with experienced clinicians to offer supportive rehabilitation for a variety of clients from high level professional athletes to professional dancers with a wide variety of rehabilitation needs.

After gaining a solid base working in the clinical environment she was encouraged to go on train part time while working as a physiotherapist. Upon graduating she continued to work in the private setting and ran her own Pilates studio.
After children she relocated to France where she continued to treat patients and run a Pilates studio.

Throughout her career Kate has continuously developed and added to her skill set with courses ranging from a diploma in sports massage, a specialist running repair course and manual therapy courses. To continue to keep her skills current and at the top of her game Kate embarked on a part time MSc in Sports medicine, exercise, and health at UCL which she is due to complete in 2025.

Keith Carmichael - Sports Therapist
Keith graduated from the University of Hull in 2021 as a Graduate Sport Rehabilitator. He has since continued to work in private physiotherapy clinics, rehabilitating and treating a variety of cases ranging from low back and sporting injuries to spinal and neurological complications.

Keith has a history and great interest in rugby union, spending weekends and weekdays as a pitch-side therapist for men's and women's union club rugby. Utilising taping, sports massage, and exercise therapy to apply a hands-on approach to return to sport.
Rob Mast - Senior Physiotherapist & Sonographer
Rob is a specialist senior practice physiotherapist with more than 20 years experience in managing complex musculoskeletal conditions. He uses diagnostic ultrasound as an extension to his clinical skills. Rob is an Interventional Sonographer (PgCert, CASE) in a busy radiology department of a central London Foundation Trust Hospital.
He is also a founding tutor of www.theultrasoundsite.co.uk and an honorary lecturer at Brunel university PgCert MSK Ultrasound course. Rob is a non medical prescriber.

Luke Donnolly - Osteopath & Sports Massage Therapist
Luke has been working as a level 5 sports and remedial massage therapist for the last decade and has completed a five year long bachelors degree in Osteopathy. He offers and employs a variety of techniques based on the age, physique, and nature of his patient’s complaint. His experience and empathetic approach ensures you receive a comprehensive treatment plan to help aid a full recovery.
A keen athlete with a strong sporting background, Luke has competed at elite level in both badminton and martial arts.
Kat Ioannou - Sports Massage Therapist
Kat qualified from Middlesex University in 2006 as a Graduate Sports Rehabilitator. Since then Kat completed various additional courses including dry needling, acupuncture and taping.
Since qualifying, she has worked privately for football teams and clinics with a special interest in sports and musculoskeletal injuries and the rehabilitation plan back to sport.

Natalie Adam - Osteopath
Natalie is a registered Osteopath specialising in back, neck and shoulder pain, and nerve-related symptoms, such as sciatica. She graduated from the London College of Osteopaths, where she retrained after a career in medical education and communications. She previously worked with pharmaceutical companies, The Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research where she developed an interest in the treatment and management of chronic pain and the impact pain has on peoples’ daily lives.
Natalie has clinical experience of working with people of all ages, on all joints of the body and numerous conditions to reduce and manage pain, improve mobility and help people return to doing what they enjoy. She has particular interests in pain perception, pre and postnatal musculoskeletal problems, lower back pain, shoulders, nerve pain and the effects of foot biomechanics on gait and posture.
