RUNNING ASSESSMENTS

A Running Assessment (including Gait Analysis) is a method of assessing the way in which you walk and run. By determining the way in which you run or walk, physiotherapists can detect biomechanical faults that could be increasing your chance of sustaining an injury.

At Barnes Practice, we will conduct a walking or running assessment if necessary as part of your rehabilitation treatment plan to try and determine the cause of your injury and thus prevent it from recurring by advising on changes to your technique.

Good walking, jogging, running techniques to think about include;

  • Maintain good posture, engage your core and gaze forward.

  • Avoid tilting your head down and slumping your shoulders.

  • Broaden your chest and keep it lied as you draw your shoulders down and back.

  • Keep your hands loose and use a relaxed arm swing.
